Imagine tiny blue sailboats, no bigger than the palm of your hand, drifting across the ocean's surface. They aren't toy boats, or a deflated plastic bag, but living beings known as by-the-wind sailors.
I'm not sure I would've believed that a blue whales heartbeat can be heard from 3km away, until I saw how big they are 🤯

While other vertebrates, such as the rougheye rockfish and the bowhead whale, can reach an impressive age of around 200 years, the Greenland shark is by far the longest-lived vertebrate with some estimates as high as 512 years.
