Perhaps nothing captured Buhari's indifference to human development more starkly than his appointment of Adamu Adamu as education minister. Adamu, who had desperately wanted to be his chief of staff but lost out in a power struggle, accepted the education portfolio with all the enthusiasm of a vegetarian asked to judge a barbecue competition.
