on positive individualism

There appears to be a difference between individualism for the self, and individualism for the collective. Individualism for the self is vapid and short sighted. Individualism for the collective is empowering and bigger-picture. When I protect, develop and improve myself for myself, myself is who reaps the reward. When I do so for the benefit of not only myself, but others, not only do those others benefit, but I in turn am supported to go beyond even my own bounds, fuelled by the rising tide of my community. This is resistance in this global economy of selfishness.
