nostalgia

Nostalgia need not be conservative, stultifying or sentimental. Rather, expressions of nostalgia are one way we communicate a desire for the past, dissatisfaction about the present, and our visions for the future. My version of nostalgia will be joyful, creative and progressive.

We can’t imagine our present moment (or the future) but we can still imagine a past in which we can imagine we were happy and clear-headed.

The dictionary definition of nostalgia is a “pleasure and sadness that is caused by remembering something from the past and wishing that you could experience it again”.

but sadness was never meant to be worn forever. it isn’t meant to be profitable. it isn’t a moodboard. it is a place to pass through. and you don’t owe it to anyone to stay in that space for an audience, an algorithm, or an identity.
