When you're looking at any mountain, you're looking at its vertical exposure. The Rockies rest on a massive plateau that is already often nearly a mile high. Even western Kansas is 4500 feet high. sabinocanyon.comWanting to see so many places in the US I tried to narrow down my decision by assessing whether I should skip the Rockies and spend more time in California. If the Alps are the more beautiful/impressive then maybe better to spend more time in California
