Stuff happens. Your stories about it determine whether it’s manageable or not.

If you don’t have a good handle on what you want, or even worse, you don’t actually consult it, you could make decisions which are not really in your interests.

Pessimists see problems. They worry about what could go wrong in the future. Optimists see possibilities. They focus on what could go right in the future. Proactive people turn problems into possibilities. They give us reasons to be optimistic about the future.

yes another way of saying "set an intention" is "create an image for what I could be perceiving, notice how that is different from what I am perceiving, and resolve to act/choose to allow action to make that difference tend towards zero"

What this exercise shows students is that just because you have looked at something doesn’t mean that you have seen it. The Notebook Rule

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been fault-testing something I’m going to call The Notebook Rule.

It goes like this:

Before any interaction with a screen, I write down, in a notebook, what I intend to do. Then, as soon as I’m done doing that thing, I walk away (close the laptop, put the phone down, literally walk away, etc).

When you're busy enough, "boredom" isn't a thing - it just feels like a break. It's fantastic and rare. A chance to think, to put things together in your head, be intentional with moves forward, and actually really wonderful.
