Breakup Dissonance: The internal conflict that arises when a leader's positive personal feelings toward a team member clash with evident professional underperformance. Most often, the leader will unconsciously devalue the relationship to justify the difficult decision to part ways.

you don’t actually agree with Republicans in their fight to reduce government spending, because that’s not the fight they are having. They fight for policies that give less to the needy and more to the wealthy. Otherwise when they were in control they would actually reduce government spending.
