The Surrealist landscape was not a naturalistic landscape but rather one of the psyche-an internal exploration rather than a perceptual pursuit of nature. Their landscapes often reflected the uncanny, an elusive imagery of dreams, myth, and fantasy. And as such, they tapped into a different source than mere perceptual landscapes.
