‘Autopsy of America’ [2014-ongoing] by Seph Lawless @sephlawless Over the past decade, Seph Lawless has traveled across America, documenting its abandoned spaces, from malls and factories to amusement parks and homes, as part of his ongoing Autopsy of America project. In this subset of work, including iconic shots of Randall Park Mall [once one of the world’s largest], Lawless captures the aftermath of economic collapse and shifting consumer habits. Broken glass, flooded floors, and decaying escalators turn once-bustling centers into eerie ruins. His images aren’t just haunting. They reflect a deeper story. “I wanted people to see what was happening to their country,” he said, “from the comfort of their suburban homes and smartphones.” Autopsy of America is not nostalgia. It’s a visual diagnosis of decline.
