Where There's Stress, There's a Story
A lot of people seem to have a necessary level of stress, and when their life is going well they make up imaginary problems to fill the void.
Morgan Housel • Some Things I Think
We have all felt stress, anxiety, and worry before. Some of us might even be living in what feels like a perpetual state of said feelings. These feelings are blocks. They keep us from seeing clearly, from developing present-moment realizations or insight.
No matter how good your life circumstances are, you are affected by your stories. You may not even recognize them as stories; to you they may seem like worries or just the way you are. If this is the case, my advice is to be more curious and to look more closely.
Phillip Moffitt • Emotional Chaos to Clarity
Because of our large brains, human beings are capable of thinking about their problems, reliving past events, or even forecasting future worst-case situations and thus turning on the cascade of stress chemicals by thought alone.
