Nines see two sides to everything, for better and for worse. This makes it very difficult for Nines to make a decision, which leads to merging in relationships.

Sevens believe their needs are simple and few, when in reality they are complex people with complex needs.

In relation to choices and behavior, Nines are the least controlling of all the numbers. Their appreciation for independence is a two-way street: they want theirs and they want you to have yours.

That can be a real challenge because Nines tend to merge with the ideas and agendas of others in order to avoid conflict.

If you’re in a relationship with Ones, know that you will have to contend with a critic that you can’t hear, but that finds fault with most of what Ones do and think, and tells them they are flawed in some terrible, unredeemable way. Unfortunately, their method of coping is to find fault in others—often finding fault in you.

They think independently and they are content to act alone. Acutely aware of what others want from them, Nines won’t risk their own integrity in order to join in an activity or belong to a group.

They’re quietly stubborn—perhaps the most stubborn number on the Enneagram. They refuse to be nagged or pushed or coerced into doing anything, so if that’s your method in relating to a Nine you will experience a lot of frustration and disappointment with very little success.
