Only 4 countries produce much helium today, the US, Qatar, Algeria and Russia. New production is planned by Gazprom and Qatar that could possibly meet demand, eventually, but that is probably years away due to the Ukraine war. The war has indefinitely disrupted Russia’s helium exports and prices have doubled since January 2022.
