The Metaverse Hype Cycle

Will Metaverse truly be the accepted term now and forever?It has several things working against it. First, the company formerly known as Facebook all but claimed it in their re-branding, spent $70+ millions doing so. Did they want us thinking of them every time we say the word? The question du jour (or de la décennie) is how all this Metaversal stuff pans out in the public’s mind over time. What will we all call it in 5–10 years? More importantly, what does it do and not do?
