like anything else that people call “normal,” it comes wrapped in a set of social and personal assumptions that can reveal someone’s worldview. It also inherently suggests that there is an “abnormal,” a state that lies on the other side of some boundary, a state that may be considered extreme, where one might not venture by choice.
