Our younger selves think in terms of a beginning, middle, and some kind of resolution. But somewhere along the way—perhaps in that middle—we realize that everyone lives with things that may not get worked out. That the middle has to be the resolution, and how we make meaning of it becomes our task.
This core group shares a desire. Perhaps they’re frustrated, left out, seeking something better or something new. They are not typical. Offer that group connection, status, forward motion, opportunity, and insight. This feeling is often different from what the masses will eventually adopt.
“Third places” are neither home nor work/school, where we can go to experience companionship and community. They’re neutral ground where those gathered are on equal footing.
