This is not the proverbial “firehose” of information. It is a firing squad.

It is hard to think clearly in this environment. It is near impossible to excel, to live and work optimally and meaningfully, in such a hell. This environment is the human equivalent of a distributed denial-of-service attack — too many requests and the system shuts down.

It’s impossible to be “authentic” (to maintain some kind of “core integrity”) or to access anything resembling “true creativity” when plugged into social media. Social media destroys whatever it is I feel out, alone, in the middle of a big walk, connecting with people, writing, looking closer and closer still at the world.
