The mountains of information we receive in a single moment make it next to impossible to think at times, so we often reduce all decisions down to basic data.

I never thought about what to say online, I thought about which account could say it.

Our brains and the contemplative nature of our neocortex, the hard-wiring that searches for meaning or even spirituality, is missing from today’s computers. Most disturbingly, it is not being considered for the future either.

No one downloads an app, they download a habit.

We don’t need a virtual reality, we have a reality. We don’t need innovation, we need compassion. We don’t need to fix the problems of the world with technology, we need to fix technology with our human spirit.

Becoming digitally Amish is not really an option. And there is no prescribed length of time you could take a break from your screen that will actually make life ok again. If you think that the former tech bros in Silicon Valley—all of whom are now having second thoughts about what they have created—are going to find a way to fix this, think again.
