Cultivating the Mind of Love

He is the living teaching. When you practice the way of the Buddha, you are transformed, and you are with the Buddha all the time.

Listen deeply without using your intellect, and you will find yourself in the Avatamsaka world, touching light, jewels,

We cannot say the Buddha is alive or dead. Reality transcends birth, death, production, and destruction.

The two main teachings of the Lotus Sutra are: (1) everyone has the capacity to become a fully enlightened Buddha, and (2) the Buddha is present everywhere, all the time.

“The present moment is the only moment available to us, and it is the door to all moments.”

Buddha as the living Dharma is sometimes called Vairochana, the eternal Buddha of the ultimate dimension. He is made of light, flowers, joy, and peace, and we can walk with him, sit with him, and take his hand. As we enter the realm of Avatamsaka, it is Vairochana Buddha we encounter.

To begin this practice, look into the nature of impermanence. Then continue and look into the nature of nonself and interbeing. Just by doing that, everything will be revealed to you in its entirety, the one in the many and the many in the one.

If we look deeply, we will remove these barriers between our mental categories and see the one in the many and the many in the one, which is the true nature of interbeing.

You cannot achieve enlightenment by locking yourself in your room. Transformation is possible only when you are in touch. When you touch the ground, you can feel the stability of the earth and feel confident.

If after reading the Avatamsaka Sutra, you go out for walking meditation, the world will be a little brighter. There will be more light, more space, more flowers, and more oceans.
