Brand New Ancients

The great myths are universal stories about dimensions of the gods, of ourselves and of nature.

I finally felt in my body how music worked. A chorus of nonbelievers, channeling God. A harmonic coming together capable of overtaking lyrics about drift and catastrophe, a song as proof that people can work together.

God, we may say, sings us into being. He breathes forth a poem, and the poem is us: galaxies, planets, molecules, continents, animals, people. It is a beautiful poem, a glorious song, and somehow we are alive and in the middle of it.
