Preventing diseases is better than treating diseases, but: “The problem is… prevention doesn’t pay”

Most of the money from healthcare goes to pharmaceutical companies, insurance providers, and manufacturers of medical devices. They then spend that money to get certain politicians elected (those who will look out for their best interests).

Conventional medicine is certainly good for some scenarios, such as trauma, but alternative medicine is superior for treating chronic diseases (since the cause is usually lifestyle-related)
